Week 9 letter

Dear medium green olive sized babe,

Yum! I like green olives and I'm sure that I'll like you sooo much that the expression "I just wanna eat you up!!" will be used frequently once I get to meet your little self. Not literally of course, but you always hear about moms saying that about their kids, their sweet smelling skin, their chubby little rolls, and so on. Yup, I'm pretty sure I will be one of those moms :)

Yesterday was our first midwife appointment. It was basically only a talking appointment, she went over a lot of information, gave me a binder with said information and then asked a lot of questions about my health history. She did attempt to listen for your heartbeat but told me from the get go that it was very unlikely we would hear it and she was right, no hearing could be had. Which was kinda a bummer but it doesn't at all mean you're not in there growing strong. We were told that it can be heard between 10-12 weeks and that we would try again at my next appointment which will be at 12.5 weeks. I cannot wait! At least it's not too far off.

Your daddy came with me and told me as we were leaving he was sad not to be able to hear it, I can't wait for him to feel you kick more than anything. I can't wait to see the look on his face!! That's still a while off though.

Yesterday, I slept something like 14 hours!! I fell asleep around 6:30 until 8ish woke up for a bit and was back asleep by 9:00 and slept until almost 8 this morning. I didn't even wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to fall back asleep, only once to pee and then I was out again like a light! I must have really needed it.

The past 2 weeks food hasn't really been the same, I have had more nausea then before and am only wanting to eat what sounds good, which is not much variety...the midwife told me not to worry though and just to focus on eating good when I was feeling better. She said you're still getting everything you need :)

It's kinda crazy to think that it comes solely from me! I love you little olive baby!

Love always,
mama

Week 8 letter

Dear kidney bean or raspberry (depending on the web site!) sized babe,

I've decided I like calling you babe or the babe when referring to you :) This week is going fast, which is good because we are that much closer to Monday, which means our first midwife appointment! And that means we get to try and listen for your heart beat. I can't wait for that and I'm so glad your daddy will get to be there too.

I told a lot more people this week by putting it on Facebook and by calling 3 of my friends from growing up. It is fun to hear everyones reactions and congratulations. Your dad and I have been talking a lot about what to do after you come and what are plans/goals are for me to be home with you as much as possible. We know I'll still have to work some but we also just found out that it looks like your Grandma Miller will be "retired" by then so it is very comforting to know we will have her to help out with you if we need some minimal childcare, especially to know that it would be with your Grandma, who by the way is ALREADY buying you clothes :) I love that woman!

What else is going on....it seems like every other night I get a good nights sleep and on the odd nights, I am up a lot to pee or with insomnia or just uncomfortable ness but I welcome it all! I love the constant reminders of you even if they are uncomfortable. Speaking of other symptoms, yesterday I threw up for the first time. It pretty much came out of no where while I was working out and afterward I felt better immediately. I don't think this will be come a regular or everyday thing but we'll see.

Well love, which is also what I call your dad, that is all for now.
I love you sooo much!

Week 7 letter

Dear blueberry sized baby!

Today, I think I got my first official taste of morning sickness, but thankfully everything stayed put! I'm not complaining though, I love and embrace all the symptoms so far because that means you are real my little love! I am counting down the days until that first Midwife appointment and fingers crossed we will hopefully get to hear your heart beat!

We told a lot of family this past weekend and everyone was so excited! Your arrival will make my Oregon grandparents (Dad's parents) GREAT grandparents for the first time! and it will make my California grandparents (Mom's parents) GREAT grandparents for the 8th!!! time. WOW!

My mom was sooooo excited! I am thankful we were able to tell her in person! We gave her a little bib that said "I love grandma!" She told me she is going to frame it and put it by her desk. She wants you to be a girl but I know she will love you just as much even if you are a boy :)

Speaking of girls, I had a dream about you a few nights ago (my first about you!) and in it you were a little red headed girl!! This may be because we have some friends with a cute little red headed girl but Matt's sister has red hair, so I think it's possible for you to have red hair, maybe?!

Another amazing and exciting thing happened just today actually, it turns out that now 2 of my college roomates who both also live in Salem are pregnant as well! I already knew about one of them (Amanda!) cause she is I think about 15 weeks? and had told us a while back but when I was checking our "roomate blog" to see when we can all get together so I could tell them about you, Jami had put on there she is pregnant too!!! This is soo great and fun! Now we really have to get together! Looks like you already will have new insta-buddies when you are born!

Little blueberry, I have been reading and re-reading the week by week stuff in the "What to Expect...." book and I just can't wait for all that is to come. Each night as I fall asleep, my hand rests on my tummy (as Matt would call it) and just think of you and pray for you!

You are so loved!

love,
your mama

First official craving!

I think this warrants a post because it gave Matt some definite brownie points! Yesterday evening, I got an intense craving for Red Robin's clucks and fries! Now I have been eating extremely healthy since I found out about the baby, so I decided to let myself indulge on this one. I called Matt who was hanging out with his cousin, to see what he thought. Turned out he had already ate at Red Robin, just 20 minutes ago!! I told him what I was thinking and he suggested just getting it to go for myself and picking it up. Since he was headed home, slightly defeated I said I'd just figure something else out.

But when he got home, I was still wanting only that, so I asked him if we could go back and he could just sit with me while I ate ;) He agreed and of course, we happened to get the same waitress he had just 30 minutes earlier! She looked at him a little funny but realized he wasn't eating again, just being with me.

Needless to say, it made my night :) I am falling in love with my "baby daddy" (as he referred to himself in a recent voicemail!) all over again!!

Week 6 letter

Dear "1/2 the size of a pea" baby!

Last week you were the size of a seasame seed, and this week according to the internet it seems like you have doubled in size! Even though I can't feel you, I know you are there. I have never been so aware of my body it seems. Every stomach gurgle or feeling I think of you. It's all still very unreal me and I think your daddy too! I know he is excited though, he keeps thinking and telling people our Dr.'s appt is perpetually 3 days away, and I have to laugh and remind him, it's actually 3 weeks! We should be able to hear your heart beat at that appointment and maybe that's when it will really feel so real. With every person we tell, we grow more excited. I can't seem to wipe the goofy grin off my face every where I go, people must be wondering what my deal is, since to everyone else, they would never know. I look forward to the day I will begin to actually look pregnant! I am so happy about you! So excited! God is good and I am more convinced then ever His timing is perfect!

This coming weekend, we plan to tell the rest of the family, your grandma (my mom) and my grandparents (both mom's and dad's parents) and quite a bit more family at Noel's graduation party. I can't wait to see their reactions. You are going to very loved my little 1/2 of a pea! You already are SO much!

love, mama

Bun in the Oven

That's right! On May 29th, I found out I was pregnant and then surprised Matt with the news! We are so excited and happy! The tentative due date right now is Feb. 3rd , 2010.
Bring on the mini-miller!
